  • Abstract: Stellar Mergers and Stellar Tidal Disruptions on a Moving Mesh, Y1

We propose to conduct a detailed parameter space study of common envelope evolution (CEE). Here we will study the CEE of massive stars with the aim of understanding how close binary neutron stars and black holes are produced using the moving-mesh code, MANGA. We will also study tidal disruption events using MANGA with the aim of understanding the initial disruption and the role of radiation in the fluid dynamics of these events. Finally we propose an ambitious code development project to adapt MANGA to solve the equation of general relativistic hydrodynamics on a moving-mesh.
