Toolkit Progress
- OpenStack
  - Rich still owes translation of checklist
  - Rich needs to request time on Champions Calls from Marisa
  - Pick up the thread on October 22nd
- Containerization
  - Smaller production container with Nix, add a dev environment after the fact OK
  - Best practices from Singularity: use only root user, is Nix user needed?
  - Templating work continues (build docker containers and turn them into singularity containers...)
  - Emphasis on small-sized containers, easier to move around and use
Site visits
- SIU Carbondale visit
  - 1st morning planning visit for rest of week
  - Discussion on condo model they are adopting
  - Eric and Steve worked on spack with admin team, set up example condo system (pre-emptible jobs on non-owned nodes)
  - Some time spent with GAs on cluster activities
  - Discussions with Director of Research Computing, CIO, Dean of School of Computing
  - Early days as far as laying out the exact condo model, IT gets a cut of overhead and possible to dedicate to RC
    - SIU appears to be in rough shape financially
  - Possible OpenStack destination, later?
- CAU Spelman visit - booking travel today - looks like a cluster build workshop
- Clarkson call with Scott Lopez (Mary to schedule)
- UTSA call Thursday 24th October
Outreach Activities
- SC19
- PEARC 2020 submissions due in Jan
  - Panel of sites
  - Paper on site visits, revisit as a team and draft up
  - Be ready to submit an abstract
- Web presence - Rick will start the process of making changes to pages
SP Coordination
- New SP's: Ookami SP (Stonybrook), 2 MRI winners, Rudy Eigenmann at Delaware, Open Storage Network (L2)
  - Some need to think about registering data sets that XSEDE users can leverage (may need some discussion with Dave Hart & XRAS)
  - would be good to link up with JP on requirements
