Notes/ Discussion items:

Feedback for SC:

  • LizanneA lot of people around throughout. Well-done
  • John: Worked well to schedule meetings in the booth, and that helped keep activity up.
  • Linda A: Loved the booth & materials. Big step up. Consider XSEDE is co-sponsor of Compute 4 Change. Stories are out on TACC & SIG HPC site–pick up that information and publicize in the booth.
  • Marisa: Champions loved being involved.
  • Kelly: Publicize for PEARC19 that we are planning to do a version of C4C but go back to Challenge format.  Looking at maternal mortality in Chicago area.  Would get them on systems & do data analytics. Could be good for communications. Ruby M involved.

John mentioned availability of Highlights book at NSF. Many people interested. Sent link to IDEALS posting to NSF, so many of those downloads may have come from them. They care about this & talk to others at NSF about it.

XAB Call for nominations: New members have been selected and informed. Should we have a release that names those selected?

  • Would be great to include in Impact newsletter.

How much lead time is needed if you want to request XSEDE pop-up and other materials for the booth?

  • Depends on event. Some shows require items are shipped very early.  Check with show floor organizer. Hannah only needs a couple days notice to get it shipped to you.

Aaron Weeden:

  • Empower internships effort was great. Got 3x the number of applicants than normal. Thank you.

Linda:

  • News section: I use this a lot when preparing for campus visits.  If there is a way to organize/search that would be great.  Esp by discipline.

Mailing Lists:

  • Mailing lists: out of band from normal news service, is there a way to opt out? Yes-unsubscribe option at the bottom. Will just add new names and not those who have opted out in the past.
  • Those that unsubscribe can't be resubscribed–service won't allow it.
  • Let help desk know you're doing this in case they get messages from users asking why they're getting it.
  • All users are added by default when they get an allocation. Would be nice coordinate that with what Hannah is doing. Likely not possible.
  • Check box for I do/don't want Impact/User News. Then can generate a list at any time that filters those. Can add that to their profile, but there are many details involved. Can start a conversation with Hannah to explore this further. Bigger discussion of classifying all the types of users we have. More than just allocated users.
